Elsie Mcdowell

E.J. McDowell, age 75, a loving mother, grandmother, and aunt, passed away on August 16, 2016, after a long battle with COPD. She was a native of Baton Rouge and graduate of Istrouma High School and Spencer Business School.

She is survived by her two daughters, Tani Legleu and Mona Legleu; her two grandsons, Aaron Meyer and Stephen Meyer; her grand-daughter, Katelyn Julene Fabre; two great-grandsons, Sade Meyer and Carter Meyer; one sister, Faye Sylvest; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis R. McDowell and Mattie Dougherty McDowell; two brothers, Louis McDowell and Morris "Knute" McDowell; and a sister, Betty Leffel.

A Legal Secretary, she retired from Keogh Cox & Wilson in 2003. She loved music and singing, her cats, traveling, stitchery, her little house, John Denver and Neil Diamond.

Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy., Baton Rouge, La 70816, on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at 1:00 PM until a Memorial Service at 2:00 PM.
