Elsie Sensintaffar Cain,
Born on July 27, 1916, in Wheeling, Missouri, Elsie moved to DeRidder, LA before she was two. She lived there until she married her husband of 64 years, Rev. A. Jerome Cain in 1937. Together they served Louisiana Methodist churches in Trout, Urania, Ponchatoula, Bogalusa, Baton Rouge, and Houma. They lived in Lafayette and Alexandria where Jerome was a District Superintendent over Methodist churches in those areas. Elsie excelled as an artist, seamstress, family historian, church worker, and cook. She never met a stranger and entertained quite in often their home and at church functions. She was a member of the United Methodist Women, the Eastern Star, Retired Ministers Wives Lunch Bunch, garden clubs, and numerous civic activities.
Elsie is survived by her two daughters, Evelyn Cain Alford and Barbara Cain Einsel; three grandchildren, David Einsel and Doug and Greg Alford; as well as five great grandchildren, Jenna and Cooper Einsel and Tyler, Peyton, and Taylor Alford; and her sister, Mamie S. Rathburn.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James E. Sensintaffar her husband, Rev. Jerome Cain her granddaughter, Sandy Einsel Bryant her brothers, Jim and Lowell Sensintaffar, and her sister, Lou Ellen Ingalls.
Special thanks go out to Dr. David West and Dr. John McLachlan, the staff and nurses at Lake Sherwood Village, and the staff and nurses at Clarity Hospice and The Crossing.
Visitation hours will be observed at Broadmoor United Methodist Church on Friday, January 2, 2015 from 11:00 a.m. until the religous service at 2:00 p.m. Officiating ministers will be Rev. Fred Wideman and Rev. Michi Head.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the United Methodist Church of your choice.
