Elmo Leobon Patureau Jr., affectionately known as "Pat", 74, passed away peacefully on July 28th in the arms of his devoted and loving family. He was born on February 12, 1943 in Beaumont Texas and was raised in Oakdale Louisiana and resided in Baton Rouge for over 50 years.
He graduated from Oakdale High School and then enlisted in the United States Navy and bravely fought in the Vietnam War from 1962-1966 aboard the USS Princeton. He then went to trade school and was a member of U.A. Local 198.
In June of 1968, he married his soul mate and the love of his life, Lora Faye Soileau Patureau. Through this marriage they welcomed two beautiful children, a daughter Dana, who will always be his "Daddy's girl" and a son, Byron who made him so proud.
His professional career included: a pipefitter superintendent, Land Developer, and a successful entrepreneur who owned several businesses. The first business he opened was The Quarter Note Pub & Cafe in Baton Rouge from 1983-1993. At the same time he became a commercial contractor and started a foundation drilling company, Auger Services, Inc. from 1987-2004, which was so successful that it was named the fastest growing company and even expanded to jobs internationally.
He sold his businesses and started enjoying retirement in 2006 and began riding his cutting horse, Hawk "Playboy" and competed in shows. Because of his love of the beach, he bought a beach house in Destin FL and then bought a deep sea fishing yacht of his dreams and named it after his old bar, The Quarter Note. His love of deep sea fishing inspired him to custom build a fishing camp in Pointe Fourchon where he and his family and friends made lots of unforgettable memories.
He loved traveling and visiting with family and friends. He was a perfectionist and took pride in everything he did and had a strong work ethic and an even stronger love for his family. He never met a stranger and his best asset was his big heart.
Pat is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Lora Faye; his two children, Dana Marie Patureau and Byron Jude Patureau and husband Hunter Richardson; and brothers, Gerald Wayne, Gerald and Mike Patureau.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Elmo Leobon Patureau Sr. and Geraldine Wilkinson Patureau; brothers, Kent and Craig; and his favorite cutting horse, Hawk "Playboy".
