Elmer Leo Nault, 90, passed away on November 14, 2017.
He grew up in Dollar Bay, Michigan, as one of 13 children born to Leo and Aurore Nault. During World War II, seventeen-year-old Elmer joined the Navy and served his country for nine years. His ship was docked in New Orleans when he met Velma Farmer. In 1953 they were married and in September of this year, they celebrated their 64th anniversary. Elmer and Velma raised a family of twin sons and a daughter in New Orleans while he worked for the United States Postal Service. He also worked part time for the New Orleans Recreation Department where he coached a multitude of boys including his own. After his retirement Elmer and Velma moved to Baton Rouge and devoted time to their grandchildren. They enjoyed travel especially trips to see their daughter and her family.
Elmer is survived by his beloved wife; his children and their spouses, (David and Debbie Nault, Michael and Mary Nault, and Michelle and Mike Roach); and his grandchildren, (David Nault, Jr. and his wife Jayme, Rachel Nault, Paul Roach, and Timothy Roach). He is also survived by his brother, Hank Nault.
Elmer's family would like to express appreciation for the care and support he received from St. Jean Vianney Church, ladies from Home Instead, St. Joseph Hospice, and great neighbors and friends.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Jean Vianney's building fund or food pantry.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, November 17th at St. Jean Vianney Church. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am at the church. Interment will follow at St. George Church Cemetery.
