Elizabeth Bellew

November 19, 1913 — December 31, 2010

A retired school teacher and librarian, she passed away at her home on Friday, December 31, 2010 at 10:45am. She was 97 years old, a native of Pottsville, PA and a resident of Baton Rouge. Visiting will be at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Saturday, January 8, 2011 from 9am until the service at 11am, conducted by Rev. Mike Collins. Entombment in Resthaven Mausoleum. She is survived by her daughter, Bridget Hasty and husband Col. James. son, John Bellew and wife Jetta grandchildren, Trine Bellew, Michael Bellew, and Phillip Hasty and wife, Jennifer great grandchildren, Marissa and Emma Hasty. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Agnes Mateka and her husband, CMDR Michael F.X. Bellew. She was a member of the Pink Ladies of Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center and a member of the Retired Officers Association. She also enjoyed painting and spending time with her family. She was loved and will be dearly missed. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Joseph Hospice of Baton Rouge.
