Elinor Darnell

Elinor Darnell, 80, passed away January 26, 2022 at her home in Baton Rouge. Elinor was born June 21, 1941 in Lutcher, LA to William A. and Corinne M. (Lowry) Abreo. Elinor worked as a manager at Kaiser Aluminum Credit Union until 1982. On October 9, 1982 she married Steven Darnell in Kenner, LA and together they lived in and visited many places. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. Elinor enjoyed traveling, cooking, shopping, working in her flower beds and most of all spending time with her family. Elinor is survived by her husband, Steve; children, Barbree Duhe, Eric Matherne, Ron Matherne and Celeste Duhe; siblings, Lois Bolton, William Abreo, Jeff Abreo, and Kathleen Rice; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and a son, Rory Matherne. Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 2, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Resthaven Gardens of Memory and Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy in Baton Rouge. Mass will be held Thursday, February 3, at 10:00 am at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 12424 Brogdon Lane in Baton Rouge, visitation will also be held one hour prior to Mass at the Church. Interment will be at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
