Eleanor Johnson Martin, born on May 21st, 1939 in Donaldsonville, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on April 23rd, 2023, in Scottsdale, Arizona, at the age of 83. She grew up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where she graduated from Woodlawn High School in 1957. Eleanor went on to attend Louisiana State University, where she earned a degree in Education in 1961. She later obtained her Master's in Education from Louisiana Tech.Eleanor dedicated her life to teaching, and for 40 years, she taught in Louisiana, with 30 of those years spent as a special education teacher. She retired in 2004 from the East Baton Rouge Parish School System, where she was a Resource Teacher at Tara High School. Eleanor touched the lives of countless students and colleagues, leaving a lasting impact on the education system in Louisiana.Eleanor is survived by her children, Patricia Martin Grenci (Tony) and Scott Jared Martin; her grandchildren, Matthew Martin (Kayla) and Christopher Martin( Shelby); and her great-grandchildren, Beaux Martin and Rhett Martin. She is also survived by her living siblings, George Johnson Jr., Edna King (Paul), and Doylene Hebert (Bubba), as well as six nieces and four nephews.Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, Irma Johnson and George W Johnson Sr.; her sister, Frances Robinson; and her great-granddaughter, Elle Alyssa Martin.A visitation will be held on Monday May 22nd 2023, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Resthaven Funeral Home, located at 11817 Jefferson Hwy., Baton Rouge, LA 70816. The funeral will follow at 11:00 AM, with a family reception afterwards.Eleanor will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her legacy as an educator will continue to impact generations to come.
