A resident of Baton Rouge for the majority of her life, until 2010 when she moved to Bakersfield, California to be closer to her family. Elaine passed away Friday, May 10, 2013 at San Joaquin Valley Hospital in Bakersfield. She was 77 and a native of Robeline, Louisiana. Elaine, also known as Mammaw, is survived by her son, Phil E. Sorbet daughterinlaw Phyllis Sorbet, Bakersfield, CA three granddaughters, Ashley Phelan, Nipomo, CA, Megan Butler, Arroyo Grande, CA, and Stephanie Ahlf, Bakersfield, CA and three greatgrandsons, Ryland, Jeremiah Kellan Sister, Betty Simon and Brother, Jack Sparks, Port Neches, Tx. Preceded in death by her husband, J. Phil Sorbet Father, Jack Sparks Mother, Geraldine Stephens and two very close Aunts, Sadie and Marie Sibley. Elaine was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and career woman working for the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality for over thirty years. Elaines love, strong will, support and wisdom will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 18th from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 15615 Jefferson Hwy, followed by a religious service at 1:30 PM. Burial in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
