Elaine Kirk

Elaine “Nane” Holmes Kirk entered into her eternal home on the morning of Sunday, September 26, 2021 at the age of 89 years young. Born in LaPlace, LA in 1932 on March 20th, Nane dedicated her life in Baton Rouge to her faith and family. As a member of St. Gerard Majella and later St. Alphonsus Catholic Churches, Elaine committed her weeks to the adoration chapel, mass, and communion services at Flannery Oaks Nursing Home- where she spent the last nine years of her life. While Nane never had children of her own, this never stopped her from fiercely loving every niece, nephew, and cousin as her own son or daughter.

Elaine was the oldest of four siblings to the late Leslie Sr and Roline Holmes. She was the first graduating class of Redemptorist High School in 1951 and went on to become an insurance writer at Wright and Percy.

Elaine is lovingly remembered by two great-nieces who she raised as her own, Lindsey and Lacey LeBlanc, her brother Leslie Holmes Jr., sister Julie Landry, special caretaker and niece Linda Jeansonne, and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.

Elaine is preceded in death by her husband, John, parents Leslie Sr and Roline Holmes, sister Patricia Matthews, niece Sherri LeBlanc, and nephew Kenneth J Smiley.

Elaine’s family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the staff at Flannery Oaks Nursing Home for making the last few years of her life happy and healthy. We would also like to thank the staff at BR Hospice’s Butterfly Wing for taking special care of our Nane during the last week of her life.
