Edward Arthur Michel, 65, passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at his home. He was a native of Donaldsonville, LA and a resident of Baton Rouge, LA. Edward retired from the United States Air Force achieving the rank of 1st Lieutenant. He was an attorney for 39 years for the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development. He graduated from Ascension Catholic High, achieved a Bachelors in Accounting from Louisiana State University, and a Juris Doctorate from LSU Law School. Edward was a member to the Baton Rouge BAR Association, LA BAR Association and a member of St. George Catholic Church. He was an avid LSU football enthusiast that also enjoyed learning about the history of the United States Military. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Dardenne Michel daughters, Ashley Michel Spillman and husband Russell Spillman, Katie Michel Thorne and husband Adam Thorne, and Jennifer Michel and husband Claude Kosinski and 4 grandchildren, EllaGrace Kosinski, Garrett Spillman, and Madeline and Mackenzie Thorne. Preceded in death by his parents, Edward Lawless and Thelma Brou Michel and brother, Stephen Michael Michel. Visitation will be held at St. George Catholic Church, 7808 Saint George Dr., on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 9 am until funeral service at 11 am conducted by Father Michael Schatzle. Interment to follow at Ascension of our Lord Catholic Cemetery in Donaldsonville, LA at 2:30 pm. Pallbearers will be Adam Thorne, Russell Spillman, Claude Kosinski, Russell Dardenne, Scott Dardenne, Michael Dardenne, Stuart Dardenne, and Justin Dardenne.
