Edward Charles Harrison, Jr. "Eddie"
A loving husband, devoted father, and great-grandfather, succumbed to his battle with Alzheimer's on March 27th 2015, passing away at the age of 76 in the arms of his loving family.
Eddie was born in Baton Rouge, LA on August 28,1938. He graduated from Baton Rouge High School in 1957 where he excelled in football, baseball, and track. While attending LSU from 1958 to 1960, he met his wife of 54 years, Peggy Forgey Harrison.
After serving as an active-duty member of the U.S. Army Reserve for six years, Eddie returned to Baton Rouge to start a career in sales with Olivetti. Not long after, he formed a partnership with friends to found Associated Business Equipment, one of Louisiana's leading office equipment dealerships for more than 30 years.
As an avid sports fan, Eddie particularly loved LSU football. He was a long-time football and basketball season ticket holder, and loved to spend his Saturday nights as marshal at the games. Unapologetically, he was also a long-suffering fan of the Cleveland Browns and Indians.
He was very devoted to his family and his church, St. John's United Methodist. Above all, Eddie was a loving father and there was nothing that he would not do for his children or grandchildren.
His parents, Edward C. Harrison Sr. and wife Willie Harrison of Baton Rouge and his sister Kathy Lard of Baton Rouge, preceded Eddie in death.
He is survived by wife, Peggy; children, Jeanne Mathes and husband Leon of New Orleans, Scott Harrison of Saugerties, New York, Stacey Luther and husband Donald Gene, Jr. of Baton Rouge, and Keith Harrison and wife Gena of Baton Rouge; brothers, Wayne Harrison and wife Beverly of Denham Springs, and Dennis Harrison and fiancé Robin Marshall of St. Francisville; grandchildren, Danielle Basilica, Brandy Luther, Luke Hidalgo, Austin Jenkins, Avery Jenkins, Allison Jenkins, Aiden Jenkins, Holly Harrison, Brett Mathes, Leigh Ann Burt; and great-granddaughter Riley Lewis.
