Mrs. Edna Teegarden, known to all as Granny, was born October 23, 1925, in Mifflin County, Pennsylvania. She died on September 29, 2022, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, of natural causes at the age of 96.
She finished beauty school upon completing the 12th grade; then worked a short time as a beautician. Later she worked as a “Sarah Coventry” sales agent and managed a jewelry store for many years at the Edgewater Mall in Biloxi; she retired in the early 2000’s. She enjoyed traveling and visiting new places. Her love of travel began during her early married years; her husband was in the U.S. military and he was stationed in a variety of places. She loved cooking and was best known for her homemade lasagna, the recipe of which she learned while living in Italy. She loved baking, was a master seamstress, and enjoyed gardening through the entirety of her life. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents: father-Samuel Flowers and mother-Beatrice Fetteroff Flowers, both of Beavertown, Pennsylvania; her husband-Paul Henry (Jerry) Teegarden originally from Kansas City, Kansas; one brother-George Flowers of Jenners Crossroads, Pennsylvania; four sisters-Betty Fultz of Lewistown, Pennsylvania, Madeline Hackenberg of Beavertown, Pennsylvania, Ida Jane Cook of Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, and Shirley Kerstetter of Mount Pleasant Mills, Pennsylvania; two children-Susan Teegarden Caronne of Covington, Louisiana, and Donald Teegarden of Biloxi, Mississippi; and two grandchildren-Sean Christopher Monce, born in Coco Solo, Panama, and Paul Andrew Ward of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
She is survived by one sister-Freida Aumiller of Beavertown, Pennsylvania; four children-Sharyn Teegarden Monce (Ron) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, John Teegarden (Kathy) of Mandeville, Louisiana, Jere Teegarden (Kelly) of Mamou, Louisiana, and Lisa Teegarden (Frauke) of Prairie Grove, Arkansas; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation services will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on October 5, 2022, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. with a short service to follow officiated by Pastor Leslie Stephens of Jefferson United Methodist Church. Burial services will take place the following day, October 6, 2022, at the National Cemetery in Biloxi, Mississippi, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband-Paul Henry Teegarden.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
