Mr. Dewailly, age 84, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 12, 2013 following a long battle with cancer. He was born in Bordelonville, Louisiana, attended Bordelonville High School and was Valedictorian of the Class of 1946. He graduated from Louisiana State University in 1956 and served in the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps. He had a long and fulfilling career as a Professional Engineer and Land Surveyor and he worked as a Landman in the Oil and Gas Industry. His work took him to several locations throughout South Louisiana including Houma, New Iberia, New Orleans and he retired in Baton Rouge. He enjoyed golf, travel, World War II chronicles, genealogy and did extensive research to trace his family history. He was a kind and jovial person and a proud lifelong LSU fan. Most important, he was a loving and devoted husband, father and family man. His career spanned over 60 years and included employment with Shell Oil Company, Valero Energy Corporation, SanDoil LLC, Lumitox Gulf, C. H. Fenstermaker And Associates, Inc. and Pyburn And Odom. He maintained membership and gave service to numerous professional organizations including The Professional Landmens Association Of New Orleans PLANO, The Society Of American Military Engineers SAME, The American Association Of Professional Landmen AAPL, and Shell Geismar Area Retirees Club. He received several honors and awards including the 2001 SAME Technology Advancement Medal, the PLANO Landman Of The Year Award, the 20112012 PLANO Special Award For Service and the Louisiana State Governors Award of Recognition for over 55 years of licensure with The Louisiana Professional Engineering And Land Surveyors Board. Edmund is preceded in death by his father, Voorhies Paul Dewailly, Sr. his mother, Heloise Coco Dewailly his two brothers, Voorhies Paul V.P. Dewailly, Jr. and Albert Harold Babee Dewailly and his daughter, Vicki Dewailly Abernethy. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Adeline Bordelon Dewailly his son, Edmund Louis Dewailly, Jr. his two daughters, Patricia Dewailly Satterlee husband Gerard and Terri Dewailly Mogharrebi husband Farhad his 6 grandchildren, Melanie Becnel Broga husband Jonathan, Amy Satterlee Trahan husband Joseph, Windy Satterlee Rachal husband Christopher, Mark Rodney Smith, Jr. wife Jen Tomchak, Stephen Michael Smith wife Elise and Cole Paul Mogharrebi and his 9 great grandchildren, Ellery, Haley and Avery Broga, Sophia and Sydney Trahan, Nathan and Eleanor Rachal, Ethan Smith and Audrey Smith. He is also survived by numerous loving sistersinlaw, brothersinlaw, nieces, nephews and extended family. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 16, 2013 at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy., from 8 am until service at 11 am celebrated by the Reverend Philip Spano.
