Duane Dennis Bier, born on July 31, 1941, in Stutsman County, ND and passed away on February 21, 2025, in Baton Rouge, LA at the age of 83.
Duane worked for many years in the construction industry, mostly industrial painting. Even was part of the crew who painted the “New Mississippi River Bridge” in Baton Rouge. After the years in the construction world, he began his work with the Division of Administration as a painter. He then began working for the LA Department of Public Safety as the Building and Maintenance Supervisor where he retired in 1999.
Duane was a devoted husband of Betty for 50 years until her death in November 2016. He loved Betty’s sons Duane “Rocky” and Randy like his own. He was very good with his hands and could craft most everything, including expanding one home and building his and Betty’s dream home at Bayou Corne in Belle Rose, LA. An abrupt and unexpected ending came with this home when the sink hole appeared and forced them to leave at which time they ended up in Hammond, LA where Betty passed. Duane always cared for Betty throughout her three bouts of cancer and was by her side until the end. He made his way to Baton Rouge, LA in 2018 where he lived the remainder of his life while struggling with chronic COPD.
Duane is survived by his two stepsons, Duane “Rocky” Andrepont (Sharon) and Randy Andrepont (Linda); grandchildren, Shannon Castle (Brett), Keith Andrepont (Tasha), Dalton Andrepont, and Ryan Andrepont (Bruce); great grandchildren, Preston, Blair, Bo, Presley, Addison, Sutton, Porter, and Annie; brothers, Vernon Bier (Mary Lou), Glen Bier (Patty), Clarence Bier, and sister Shirley Callahan.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Betty Bier, parents, Theodore Bier, Viola Klein; sisters, Arlene Atwood, Donna Pearl, and Judy Baird.
The family would like to give special thanks to Clarity Hospice and especially to Ellaina Daniels who was a tremendous help with his caregiving over the last 2 years of Duane’s life.
