Today we celebrate the life of our Pastor, Husband, Dad and Poppy, Richard White. He was a man who gave his life for Jesus, his family, and bringing hurting people to Jesus. Everyone that met him, their life was impacted by his infectious smile and genuine interest in their lives. Richard graduated from Bossier High School and Baptist Christian College in Shreveport, Louisiana. He also received 3 honorary Doctorate degrees and 1 earned Doctorate of Humanities and Divinity. Richard started Calvary Heights Baptist Church and Mercy Church of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He had also been the pastor of North Shreve Baptist Church in Shreveport, LA, Central Baptist Church in Panama City, Florida and the Northside Baptist Church in Roswell, GA. Richard also was the founder of the Calvary Baptist Foundation of India. In India, Richard help plant almost 500 churches through the ministry of Justus Banuel. Richard was also the founder of Calvary Christian School of Baton Rouge, LA.
He is survived by his wife, Pamela Shaw White of Baton Rouge, LA; and his two sons, Bradley White of Tampa, FL (wife Stephanie), J.D. White of Panama City, FL. Richard adored and worshipped his 4 grandchildren, Landon, Catherine, Caroline and Sunny White. We can't leave out his beloved Lab, Max. Richard is also survived by one brother, Marvin R. White; 3 sisters, Margaret Newman, Dianne Hassel and Barbara Steinfeld; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his Father, Marvin R. White; mother, Loretta White; and sister, Lila Dobson. Richard leaves behind a legacy of millions of friends who love him. He was a people person and never ever said a negative thing about another person. Richard loved his LSU Tigers! We will never have one day when we won't miss you. We love and adore you our precious one. His life verse was Matthew 25:40.
Visiting hours will be observed at The Chapel at the Oaks, 9611 Siegen Lane, Baton Rouge, LA on Monday, January 12, 2015 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Visiting will resume at The Chapel at the Oaks on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 from 12 noon until service time. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow in Resthaven Gardens of Memory, 11817 Jefferson Hwy.
