Warren Alan Meadows was born on August 17, 1930 in Lettsworth, LA. He served in the United States Navy from 19501954. Warren was a retired professor and Resident Director Emeritus for the LSU Agricultural Center, professor and head within the Department of Horiculture, while providing 43 years of service within the LSU system, Resident Director for the Burden Research Center, SecretaryTreasurer for LA Pecan Growers Association, Federated Pecan Growers Association of the US, National Pecan Council, Louisiana Turf Grass Association, and the Executive Secretary for the LA Association of Nurserymen.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joyce Van Oss Meadows children, Allyn Meadows Goff, Catherine Meadows and husband Buddy Parks, Mark Allen Meadows and fianc Mary Johnson, Laura Meadows Fielder, and Eric Martin Meadows grandchildren, Charles Parks, David Parks, Emily Parks, Mykael Goff, Megan Fielder, Jesse Fielder, Melissa Waldmeier, Luke Meadows and one great grandchild, Brody Thomas Hanks. Warren is preceded in death by his parents, Sidney and Bessie Meadows brothers, Marion, Sidney and Jay and sonnlaw, Ricky Fielder.
Visiting hours will be observed at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, on Monday, October 13, 2014 from 9:00 am until service time. Funeral service will be held at 12 noon. Interment to follow in St. George Catholic Church Cemetery, 7808 St. George Way, Baton Rouge, 70809. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to LSU Foundation, Dr. Warren Meadows Scholarship, 3838 W. Lakeshore Dr., Baton Rouge, LA 70808.
