Dr. Daniel Fontenot, age 84, a resident of Baton Rouge passed away on Friday, March 27, 2015 at Baton Rouge General Medical Center, after a brief illness.
He was an avid LSU sports fan, who tailgated and cooked for many years. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was retired from LSU Cooperative Extension Service with over 40 years of service. He was a member of Kiwanis, American Legion, Lions Club, and LSU Alumni. He loved playing golf and cards with his buddies. He was an "Entertainer" and loved time spent with family and friends.
He is survived by his sons, Danny Fontenot and Hal Holloway; sister, Theresa Arceneaux; and brother and sister in law, Francis and Bernice Fontenot; special companion and dance partner, Fran Becker; his min pin, "Tiger"; Ramo and Amira Dizdarevic who were like a son and daughter in their love and care of him, and numerous loved nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Louise Thibodeaux Fontenot.
Family request visitation hours be observed on Monday, March 30, 2015 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 2021 Stuart Ave, Baton Rouge, La. Mass of Christian Burial will follow visitation at 12:00 PM.
Interment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
Rev Gerald Burns will be officiating the services.
Honorary Pallbearers are Randy and Brenda Fontenot, Emile Fontenot, Lee Fontenot, Buster Schilling, Fred Enwright, Sam Godber, Eddie Bush, Freddie Martin, and Artes Mullins.
