Doussan Rando, Iii

Doussan (Dous) D. Rando, III, passed away on Friday, March 12, 2021 at the age of 75. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on October 22, 1945. He attended Catholic High School and Broadmoor High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He then received a B.S. Degree in Biology from Southeastern Louisiana University. After receiving his B.S., he worked for the Louisiana State Police and entered the Louisiana State Police Academy Cadet Class 50 of 1974. He began his career with Louisiana State Police in crime scene investigations and eventually headed the Applied Technology Division where he led efforts to curb the drunk driving epidemic in Louisiana. He retired from LSP in 1993. After retiring from State Police, he began his career in the gaming industry. Dous served as Louisiana State Troopers Association Retiree Affiliate President from 2009-2020. Dous returned to the State Police in 2011. He continued his commitment to the Applied Technology program at the LSP training academy until 2018. He then transferred to the Criminal Intelligence division of the Louisiana State Police until his death.

Dous is survived by his wife of 28 years, Colleen Peeler Rando; his children, Bradley Rando, Kristin Rando, and Anna Marie Rando. He is also survived by his siblings, Vanessa Rando Starns and Damon D. Rando; his mother-in-law, Anna Marie Peeler; brother-in-law, James Peeler, Jr. (Lisa); and sisters-in-law, Cindy Peeler Saylors (Bob), Tina Peeler Carpenter (Kyle), and Jeanne Peeler Bullman (Bruce); as well as many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Doussan and Lucille Rando; niece, Nicole “Nikki” Starns Alleman; and father-in-law, James J. Peeler, Sr.

Dous loved golfing, barbequing, the beach, but mostly spending time with his wife, family, and friends. His love, pride, and enjoyment of his family and friends was always a priority. Family Sunday dinners, birthday celebrations, and beach trips will not be the same without his boisterous laugh, grumpy teasing, and great stories.

Such a wonderful character who loved and was loved – if only we could have more time. Rest in peace, Dous.

Visitation will held at Resthaven Funeral Home on Saturday, March 20, 2021 beginning at 8:30 AM until services at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
