Douglas Anthony East passed away peacefully surrounded by his family in Sugarland, TX on March 5, 2016. He was born in Lake Charles, La. on July 18, 1932. He was 83.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Bonanno East of 63 years; his sons, Blaine East of Naples FL, Clark East of Clearwater, FL, and David East and wife, Cheryl Ward East of Port St. Lucie, FL; his daughter, Suzette East Novosad and husband Dr. Byron Novosad of Sugarland, Tx.; and his sister, Judi East of Gulf Breeze, FL. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Jamie East Billig of Medina, OH, Tiffany Ley of Houston TX, Norman Ley of Houston, TX, Jason East of Raleigh NC, Matthew East of Orlando, FL, Jonathan East of Clearwater FL, and Brendan East of Tallahassee, FL, Jacilyn East Mikels of Port St Lucie FL, Ashley East of Port St Lucie FL, and Blair East of Port St Lucie FL; and 6 great grandchildren, Jack Billig, Taylor Billig, Aiden Billig, Taylor Mikles, Tory Mikels, and Vincent East.
He is preceded in death by his son, Andrew Vincent East; his mother, Laurence Guidry East; father, Thomas Sadler East; his brothers, Thomas East, Henry East, Jack East; and sister, Gwen East Hebert.
Douglas was a retired Contractor and Real Estate Broker. He served in the Marines and was a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus. He was a devout Catholic and loved his wife and children and grandchildren dearly. He will be placed to rest in Baton Rouge, La.
Viewing will take place at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church on March 10, 2016 from 9:30am until Mass which will be held at 10:30am. Following the Mass, Grave site services will be held at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, La.
