Douglas Catoe

A retired band director from Springfield and Woodlawn high schools, he died at 7:45 p.m. Monday, Aug. 11, 2008, at Harvest Manor, Denham Springs. He was 59, a resident of Baton Rouge and a native of Kershaw, S.C. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Thursday, Aug. 14, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and in the chapel on Friday from noon until religious service at 2 p.m., conducted by Darrin Morgan, pastor. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Survived by his wife, Connie C. Catoe; mother, Grace A. Catoe, Kershaw; son, Douglas C. Colin Cato, Humble, Texas; and brother, Dr. Sam Catoe and wife Joyce, Columbia, S.C. Preceded in death by his father, Audrey C. Catoe. He was a member of Parkside Baptist Church. He received his bachelor of arts degree from Furman University in Greenville, S.C., and a masters of music education from LSU. Pallbearers will be Olen Crow, Kenneth Crow, Burl Cole, Brent Alder, John Lizana and Tommy Jacobsen.
