Dorothy June Harrell, age 94, passed away peacefully on December 18,2020 with her 2 daughters at her side. She was born May 25, 1926 in Norwood, LA to Robert & Gertrude Garig. She married the love of her life William Henry, “Pat” Harrell on November 8, 1947 who preceded her in death in 2010. Their favorite song was ‘Peg of My Heart’.
June was a devout Christian and spent her life sharing her life story and the love of Jesus Christ. She and Pat owned and developed a Christian Retreat, Tranquility Lakes, which they later turned into a Christian campground. She was never still. She worked with ceramics, painted, crochet’d and loved gardening. She took great joy in sharing her talents with children for various organizations. For most of her life June worked with mission groups which included Billy Graham Ministries, Baptist Girls Auxiliary, and the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for over seas missions. She would get in character of Lottie Moon every Christmas at Parkview Baptist Church, sharing the story of Lottie.
Dorothy June, D.J., June, June Bug, Mommy June, Momma is survived by 3 of her children and their spouses, Brad & Audrey Harrell, Judi & Camille Cazedessus, and Laura & Frank Gresham. She had 7 grandchildren Candace & husband Darryn Kimbrough, Khristine & husband Tom Selena, Aaron Harrell, Micah & wife Skylar Harrell, David Sweinefus, Matt Gresham and Lukas Gresham. Her 3 great grandchildren are Peyton Kimbrough, Parker Trujillo, and Brenna Harrell.
The family would like to thank some special people who helped June through these trying times and touched her life. They are Garden View Assisted Living Facility staff, Pinnacle Hospice and our Nurse Anne and Chaplin Jody, Parkview Baptist Senior Sunday School Class, and Pastor Merlin Liverman.
June touched the heart and life of everyone she met and was always ready to offer up a prayer. She was Gods soldier and angel here on Earth. Now, she is in Heaven in the arms of her precious son Robert and her sweetheart Pat!
In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation in her name to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering at Parkview Baptist Church. Services will be held at Resthaven Gardens of Memory on December 23, visitation from 12 to 2, service at 2PM. To keep all of our loved ones safe, masks are required and no food or drinks are allowed.
