Dorothy Mae Bordelon, age 85, who was a long-time resident of Baton Rouge and native of Avoyelles Parish, passed away on June 22, 2015 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home. She was a caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother, who never met a stranger. She loved LSU football, Joe Montana, and Wolf Blitzer. She was a superb baker who's coconut cake could bring peace to the middle east.
Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Julie Knickerbocker, Jeanie Lechuga and husband Andy, and Joy Bordelon and partner; her son, Jonny Paul Bordelon; 9 grandchildren, Lee Bruehl, Rommel Bruehl, Laurie Bruehl, Chris Lechuga, Kinsey Lechuga Swetnam, Dannie Cox, Sarah Cox, Jacob Bordelon and Ashley Bordelon; sisters, Barbara Stallings and Sylvia Bradford; brother James Luckett Bordelon; numerous nieces and nephews, 7 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Dannie Phillip Bordelon; son, Jimmy Dan Bordelon; and grandson, Jordan Bordelon.
The family request that visiting hours be observed on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at Resthaven Gardens of Memory and Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
The family wishes to give a special thanks to the staff at Heritage Manor, especially, Nurse Audriana Baker, Misty Browning, admissions, and all the staff involved in our mother's care.
