A loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many, she passed away at 3 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2009, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. She was 87, a native of New Orleans and a resident of Baton Rouge for 37 years. She was a member of the Baton Rouge Bridge Club and the American Contract Bridge League. She achieved the rank of life master. Visiting at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 12424 Brogdon Lane, on Thursday, Jan. 29, from 9:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. Burial in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. She is survived by daughters, Mary Macgowan Gaudin and Shelby Macgowan St. Romain and husband Timothy J. St. Romain; sisters, Marie Louise Rivet Morris, of New Orleans, Janet Rivet Anderson, of Atlanta, and Sister Teresita Rivet, O.S.U., of Alton, Ill.; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, Maurice J. and Inez Jung Rivet; her husband of 62 years, Bates Macgowan; sister, Marjorie Rivet Cambre; brother, Maurice J. Rivet Jr.; and son-in-law, W. Wayne Gaudin Jr. The family would like to extend a special thanks to all the nurses and staff in CICU and CAR 1 of Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center for their loving and compassionate care.
