Doris June Wells Gallusser was born June 6, 1921, in Birmingham, Ala., and passed into the arms of our Lord on Thursday, March 4, 2010. Her family was her joy and the focus of her entire life. Married to Carlos G. Gallusser for 65 years, they met when she was on vacation in Guatemala City. Their happy union created five children, 13 grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren. Doris loved to travel and was always ready to be on the go to the very end. She spoke Spanish fluently, having learned the language while living in Guatemala, Venezuela and many years in Mexico City. Doris enjoyed reading until her eyesight failed and she delighted in watching scary Stephen King movies, much to the amusement of her grandchildren. Doris enjoyed dancing, which included entertaining the troops for the USO during World War II. She could jitterbug with the best of them, especially her brother, Carl Jr. She loved to listen to Latin music and dance with her husband. Survived by her beloved husband, Carlos Gallusser and children, Carla Jumonville and husband Dan, Carlos Gallusser and wife Debra, Elena Rome and husband Maurice, and Maria Konert. Her youngest son, Marshall Richardson Gallusser, passed away in 2008, and is survived by his wife, Beth. She is also survived by her grandchildren, MElaine Jumonville Booth, Ryan Jumonville, Jocelyn and Justin Rome, Megan Gallusser, Jennifer Armstrong and Nicole Stulak. Also survived by grandchildren, Carmen, Nick and Joseph Konert, as well as Carlos, Carla and Charleton Gallusser. Greatgrandchildren include Kendall, Ben and Claire Booth, Jude Stulak, Aubrey Scanlan and Knox Konert. Visiting at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 12424 Brogdon Lane, Saturday, March 6, from 9:30 a.m. until a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. conducted by the Rev. Jerry Martin. Burial at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
