Doris Bennett

Doris Fabre Bennett, a resident of Baton Rouge, peacefully passed away on Friday July 2, 2021.  She was born on December 17, 1929 to Raphael and Leocadie Fabre in Independence, LA, grew up in New Roads, LA and relocated to Baton Rouge as a young adult.

Doris is survived by two daughters, Cynthia (Cindy) Bennett Atwood and Marilyn Bennett Warren, two sons-in-law, John Warren and Robert (Bobby) Martien, a daughter-in-law, Sherry Windham Bennett, 12 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Bennett, a daughter Rebecca (Becky) Bennett Martien, a son, Kenneth (Kenny) Bennett and was the last surviving sibling of 10.

Doris was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church for the last 45 years where she generously gave of her time in the Adoration Chapel, cooked for the Bereavement Committee, enjoyed participating in the Prime Timers Activities and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary.

Doris lived her life as an example of God’s love and her most precious possession in this world was her family.  She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Bennett, Cody Bennett, Jason Atwood, Jake Buhler, Marshall Courtney, Shelby Cole, Jody Vallet and David Bueche.

Visitation will be at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy on Thursday, July 8, 2021 from 5pm to 8pm and again on Friday morning at St. Alphonsus Church from 9:30am to 10:30am followed by Mass and graveside burial at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
