A resident of Baton Rouge, Donald E. Wingard passed into the glory of his savior on Saturday, June 28, 2008. Mr. Wingard was born in Freemont, Ohio, on June 21, 1920, the youngest child of Mr. and Mrs. Cyrus E. Wingard. He graduated from Freemont Ross High School and Ohio State University, receiving a master's degree in social administration. On May 17, 1941, he married his life's companion of 67 years, Helen Katherine Lena Schreiner, of Cincinatti. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. For most of his career, he directed the United WayUnited Givers Fund in various communities, including East Baton Rouge Parish 1966-1970. He retired in 1983 in Howard County, Ind. Mr. Wingard served his Lord as a ruling elder in a number of Presbyterian congregations and at the time of his death was an active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church of Baton Rouge. He is survived by his wife, Helen; two sons, Michael and Brian Wingard, and their wives, Barbara and Dorothy; granddaughter, Mrs. Sarah Coulter; grandson, Matthew Wingard; and two great-grandchildren, Devlyn and Tristan Coulter. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Tuesday, July 1, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visiting at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 3701 Jones Creek Road, on Wednesday from 1 p.m. until service at 2 p.m., conducted by his son, the Rev. Dr. Brian Wingard, assisted by the Rev. Wayne King. Burial in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
