Donald Mackery Menard, age 92, a native of Broussard, LA and resident of Kingwood, TX passed away on May 24, 2017 at 3:19 PM.
Donald attended Lafayette High School, the Southwest LA Institute and Port Arthur Jr. College before starting his own business Menard Electronics Inc. He served in WWII in the U.S. Army AirCorps as a Staff Sgt. While serving he was a POW (Prisoner of War) and received a Purple Heart.
He is survived by his wife, Kathryn M. Myers; his daughters, Mellisa Menard Ledlow (Jim), Phyllis Menard Bergeron (Mike), and Deborah Llarena Menard (Salvador); his sons, William Bryan Menard (Emily) and Mark Menard (Susan); and his sisters, Jeanette M. Dugas and Joann M. Speyrer.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Diana and Lauve Menard; his brothers, Jay, Robert, and Davis Menard; his sister, Lucy M. Comeaux; and his great-grandson, Braxton Bergeron.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, May 29, 2017 at Resthaven Gardens of Memory and Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy. Baton Rouge, from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 15615 Jefferson Hwy. Baton Rouge, from 10:30 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 pm. Officiant will be Fr. Phil Spano. Burial will follow in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
Pallbearers will be Craig Menard, Matthew Menard, Bryan Menard, Jr., Andrew Menard, Brent Bergeron, and Salvador Llarena, Jr.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the 398th Bomb Gp, Memorial Association, care of Lee Bradley, 14 Winding Way, Andover, New Jersey 07821.
