Donald Max Battles, 87, a long-time resident of Baton Rouge, passed away peacefully at his home on March 15, 2018. He was born January 22, 1931, in Ashville, Alabama, and attended the University of Alabama (Roll Tide!!). He was heavily involved in the construction industry in Baton Rouge and the surrounding area as a civil engineer and construction project estimator.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Paula Battles; daughters Donna Williams of Dallas, Texas; Stephanie Kiebel of Jefferson City, Missouri; and Holly Deckard of Willard, Missouri; step-sons Michael Graves of Pride, Louisiana, and David Graves of Vienna, Austria; as well as 4 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren and 4 step-great grandchildren, all of whom he treated as his own.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lottie and Bernie Battles of Trenton, Georgia; brothers Stanford Battles of Trenton, Georgia, and Bernie Battles of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and a sister who died in infancy.
Memorial visitation will be at Resthaven Funeral Home in Baton Rouge on Saturday, March 24, from 1-2pm, followed by a memorial service from 2-3pm officiated by Pastor Stephen Hebert. Attendance at the interment will be limited to family only.
