Domonic Antonio Bourgeois was born on April 14, 1979, in Franklin, LA, to his parents; Crystal Patricia Bourgeois and Cornell Michael Burke (Sharon) of Hampton, Virginia. He resided in Baton Rouge, LA with his mother and passed away at their residence on Monday, May 20, 2024.
Domonic grew up in Franklin, Lafayette, Alexandria, Baton Rouge, & graduated from Phoebus High School in Hampton Virginia. He then studied Mechanical Engineering at Virginia Peninsula Community College from 2000 to 2001. When Domonic moved back to Baton Rouge, he enrolled at the Baton Rouge School of Computers. Domonic was employed as a Service Technician at Ferguson Bath, Kitchen & Lighting Gallery.
Domonic started playing the saxophone in the 8th grade and played in the high school bands in Lafayette & Alexandria. He continued to excel in this talent and played with four bands in the Baton Rouge Area (Kryptic Soul System, Mojohand, Soul Jettison I and Soul Jettison II) and with the legendary Henry Turner Jr. Listening Room. In addition to his music, Domonic was a self-taught mechanic, played tennis & soccer with BREC and enjoyed fishing.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his maternal grandmother Marguerite Gobert Bourgeois, five aunts: Debra Bourgeois Hogan (Ron), Valerie Bourgeois, Rachelle Bourgeois, Renee’ Bourgeois (William), Shelia Burke-Myers; two uncles: (Godfather) Sebrin Bourgeois (Gladys), and Terryl Bourgeois (Terry-Ann); his siblings André Parker and Samantha Battle (Eric); and his companion Monica S. Alexander. Domonic was part of a large family including a host of great-aunts; uncles, cousins, other relatives and extended family and a lot of friends who will miss him dearly.
Domonic was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, the Honorable Shelby J. Bourgeois, his aunt Melanie Bourgeois Furlough, paternal grandparents John and Marion Burke and aunt Renee Williams. His maternal great-grandparents, Albert Bourgeois, Sr. and Bessie Pellerin Bourgeois; and Nicholas Gobert and Antonia Vallet Gobert.
Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation in honor of Domonic at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, from 9am – 10am followed by the Rosary and tributes. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11am with a graveside service to follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
