Dolores Brown Simmons, age 85, a resident of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away on October 28, 2022.
She graduated from Bolton High School in Alexandria, LA and attended LSU in Baton Rouge. She climbed the ranks within the Louisiana Teachers Retirement. In 1980 she was admitted as a member of the Association of Government Accountants. By 1983 she was a charter member of the Governmental Finance Officers Association of Louisiana. Dolores was listed in the 1994/1995 Who’s Who in American Education for making a difference in education. She retired as the Fiscal Officer for Louisiana Teachers Retirement system. She was a member of St. George Catholic Church for 54 years until her death.
Dolores is survived by her oldest son and his wife Gordon and Becki Simmons, II and youngest son Steve Simmons; her grandchildren and their spouses, Lacey and Brian Davis, Alexis and John Harper, Gordon and Lisa Simmons, III and Katherine Farr; and great grandchildren McKenzie and Sienna Harper.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Simmons, and parents Anita Marie Chaudoir and Edward Eugene Brown.
Visiting hours will take place at Resthaven Funeral Home on November 2, 2022, from 5:00 pm to 8:00pm and November 3, 2022, from 1:00 pm until services at 2:00pm. Interment will follow at St. George Catholic Church.
She was an avid animal lover. In lieu of flowers please make donations to your favorite animal charity in Dolores Simmons’s name.
