Dick Stephen Taylor, age 73, a resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away on April 15, 2021. Dick was a son, a brother, a husband, a father, a boss, a mentor, and to all of us, Dick was and always will be a friend.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Vinnie Taylor. Dick is survived by Jean Crawley Taylor, his wife of 48 years, his daughter Mandy Taylor and son Jake Taylor. Dick is also survived by his brother Ronald and sister-in-law Margie and their children, Ashley and David; his brother, Gary and his children Zach and Cody.
Dick graduated from Bossier High School in 1966 and received his Bachelor’s Business Degree from Louisiana Tech in 1971. Dick moved his family to Baton Rouge in 1973 and went to work at the State Capital and was soon appointed to work at the LA Dept. of Motor Vehicles where he remained until he was recruited by a group of auto dealers in 1977 to start a vehicle service contract company known today as Louisiana Dealer Services Insurance, Inc. The LDS Group now consist of 10 companies, all started by Dick Taylor. Dick remained President of The LDS Group for 37 years until his retirement in 2014.
Dick spent the last several years of his life under the great care of the staff at The Pearl at Jamestown here in Baton Rouge. The family would like to thank the entire staff at The Pearl at Jamestown for the exceptional care they provided to Dick for the last several years; especially his four caregivers, Tunya Horton, Gloria Springer, Freida Doreston and Dianne Spears.
Visiting hours will take place at Resthaven Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 from 12:00 PM until services at 2:00 PM. Burial to follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
