Diana Calamia

Diana, a native Texan and resident of Central, Louisiana, passed away on Tuesday, July 11th, at age 50. She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Sanchez; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Louis and Frances Calamia, Sr.; sister-in-law, Cindy Calamia Aucoin; and brother-in-law, J.B. Smith. She is survived by her beloved husband and constant companion, Keith Calamia; their children, Matthew and Breanna Calamia; her mother, Mary Lou Sanchez; her brother and sister, Bobby Sanchez and Lisa Moreno; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Butch Calamia, Gary Aucoin, Linda Smith, Brent and Beth Orillion, Donald and Karen Russell, and Mike and Vickie Calamia. Diana was quiet, yet confident; private, yet always thinking of the needs of others. Diana was a light in the lives of many, touching not only the hearts of her family and friends, but also those of strangers she would meet only briefly. After a lung transplant three and a half years ago, she had a second chance at life and spent it with her loved ones and completing her personal goals. Nothing would stop her; she completed 5K and 10K races with only one lung. Although she didn't get to finish everything she wanted to do, she has inspired many to carry on her legacy of doing small things to bring joy and love to the lives of others. Visitation at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, on Thursday, July 13th, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Visitation at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 14040 Greenwell Springs Rd, Greenwell Springs from Friday, July 14th, from 11:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 p.m. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Special thanks to Canon Hospice for their love and care in her final days; to the many doctors, nurses, and staff of Ochsner Medical Center that provided care for her throughout her journey; and to her lung donor who gave her the gift of life.
