Dewitt Zachary, Jr.

Dewitt Zachary Jr. took his journey home on February 28, 2021 after a long illness. He was at home surrounded by his loved ones.

Dewitt graduated Glen Oaks High School in 1964 and joined the Baton Rouge Fire Department at age 19 where he retired with 30 years of service.

Dewitt is survived by his wife, Alice Michelli Zachary; daughter, Darla Sims; two sons, Darren (Kara) Zachary and Devin (Rochelle) Zachary and two step-children, Barry (Bonna) Michelli and Tina Michelli; 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his father, Dewitt Zachary Sr., mother, Grace Russell Zachary and sister, Aline Chapman.

Visiting hours will take place at Resthaven Funeral Home on Friday, March 5, 2021 at 1:00 PM until Funeral Service at 2:30 PM.  Burial to follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
