Dewey Besson, Jr.

Dewey J. Besson, Jr., age 89, a native of Plaquemine and a US Navy Veteran passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2017.

He retired from the IBEW local union 995. Dewey and his late wife Margery had been lifelong parishioners of St. George Catholic Church since 1962.

Dewey is survived by his brother, Jerry Besson; his sister, Loys Romero; his four children, Daryl and Kayren H. Besson, Sheree and David Hernandez, Dana Besson Owens, and Bret and Cindy S. Besson; his grandchildren, Jason Besson, Joshua Besson, Bradley and Kristen Hernandez, Justin Hernandez, Robert and Holly R. Owens, Taya Owens, Caleb Owens, Cory and Elysia Besson, Andrew and Amanda M. Besson; and his great grandchildren, Jacob, Macie, Mackenzie, Blake, Connor, Carson, Kye, Haleigh, DJ, Donna, Aaron, Matthew, and Kyleigh.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Margery Laurent Besson; his parents, Dewey and Louise Sicard Besson; and his sisters, Magadeline B. Davis and Lilith B. Delapasse.

Visitation will be held at St. George Catholic Church, 7808 St George Dr, Baton Rouge, LA on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 from 8:30am until Mass at 10:30am, officiated by Rev. Michael Schatzle. Interment will follow at St. George Cemetery.

The family would like to thank all the staff at Louisiana War Veterans Home in Jackson, LA for taking care of Dewey and his trumpet for the past five years.
