A loving mother and proud grandmother, Delores passed away Sunday, Feb. 14, 2010, at M.D. Anderson Hospital, Houston, after a courageous fight against her illness. She was 74 and a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, Tuesday, Feb. 16, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. until service at 10:45 a.m. in the chapel, conducted by the Rev. Tom Duhe. Entombment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. She is survived by four children, Michelle Covington Mayeux and husband Bradley, of Baton Rouge, Dianne Covington Flores and husband Richard, and Robert Peppy Wesley Covington and wife Mina, all of Houston, and Kelly Covington Putfark and husband Matthew, of Mandeville. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Dianna Brown, Johnathan Brown, Bryan Covington, Alexis Covington and Colby Covington, all of Houston, Taylor Mayeux and Austin Mayeux, both of Baton Rouge, and Drew Putfark and Brandt Putfark, both of Mandeville sister, Dorothy Estelle Maier, Baton Rouge brother, Lewis Gremillion, Baton Rouge and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Moteal Gremillion, who were of Baton Rouge eight sisters, Vivian Blakewood, who was of New Orleans, Vera Guillory, Vergie Swenson, Bobby Hotard and Blanche Buhler, who were of Baton Rouge, Hazel Rice, who was of Elmira, N.Y., and Elsie Mae Gremillion and Numa Mae Castillo, who were of Baton Rouge. Pallbearers will be Bradley Mayeux, Richard Flores, Matthew Putfark, Taylor Mayeux, Austin Mayeux and William Rice. Honorary pallbearers are Johnathan Brown, Drew Putfark and Brandt Putfark. The family would like to extend their great appreciation to all family and friends for their love and support, especially good friends, Maxine Bass and Frances FaKouri, of Baton Rouge.
