Deborah Cornwell

Deborah Rose Cornwell, 61, of Baton Rouge, LA., peacefully passed away in the presence of her loved ones on Friday, February 7, 2014 due to a sudden illness at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital. She was born to Lynn and Arlene Cornwell on November 25, 1952 in Shreveport, LA. Deborah graduated from Singer High School in 1970. Deborah later attended business school in Shreveport, LA. before beginning her career as a secretary. She met the love of her life, Malcolm Butch Kurz in 2001 while walking her dog in Lake Charles. Every beat of her heart for the past 13 years was spent loving Butch and pets. Deborah had a nurturing soul and spent every moment of her life expressing her love for those she held close. She is survived by husband, Malcolm Butch Kurz mother, Arlene Cornwell of Merryville, LA. sisters, Linda Miers and husband Thomas of DeRidder, LA., Patsy Sellers and husband Don of Franklin, TN., and Candice Rucker and husband Chris of Hackberry, LA. brothers, Bobby Cornwell of DeRidder, LA., David Cornwell and Mary of Merryville, LA., and Curtis Cornwell and Julia of Merryville, LA. stepchildren, Wendy Mills and husband David of Spring, TX. grandchildren, Kailee and Logon Mills and 9 nieces and 8 nephews. Deborah is preceded in death by her father, Lynn Cornwell and brother Richard Craig Cornwell. Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy., Baton Rouge, LA. 70816 on February 9, 2014 from 10 am until services beginning at 2 pm.
