David Charles Steele, Sr.
David Charles Steele, Sr., at the age of 64, passed away on Thursday, March 19th, 2015, at his residence in Baton Rouge, LA.
After a long fought and courageous battle with Parkinson's disease, David finally passed away from a heart attack due to conditions surrounding his disease. Born in Lancaster, OH, and a long term resident of Tampa, FL, David lived the majority of his adult life in Baton Rouge, LA. He served as a Sgt. in the United States Air Force. He was an avid, lifelong fan of the Auburn University Tigers. He looked forward to and enjoyed watching many of the great rivalry games with his sons, who both graduated from Louisiana State University. He took much pleasure in fishing with his sons and also very much enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. More than anything David loved to vacation and travel the world with his wife and children.
David is survived by his best friend and the love of his life, his wife of 37 years, Perla; his beloved father, Fred; the pride and joy of his life, his two sons, Lawrence Steele and David Charles Steele Jr.; sister, Denise Ellinghausen and her husband, Roger; his two brothers, Danny Steele his wife, Ruthie, and Gary Steele his partner, Pat; nieces, Jennifer, Stephanie, Lauren, Kaitlyn, and Megan; nephews, Christopher and Joshua; his in laws, Alex and Elvia Naranjo.
David is preceded in death by his mother, Louella Steele, and his aunt, Grace Ellen Garlinger.
His family requests the presence of those who loved him for his memorial services to be held on Tuesday, March, 24, 2015, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 445 Marquette Ave., Baton Rouge, LA. Visitation will be held in the Church from 9:00am to 10:00am.
A Christian Mass will immediately follow.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that any donations be made in his honor to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
