David Rawls

January 14, 1955 — June 3, 2016

David James Rawls, age 61, a resident of St. Gabriel, passed away on June 3, 2016.

David served as a Sergeant in Company B of the first battalion in the United States Marine Corp. David loved fishing, reading, and history. He attended LSU and studied law before working at Exxon for 25 years as a Marine Terminal Advisor, and later under the employ of Seaport Maritime. David was also a volunteer fire fighter in Port Allen.

David is survived by his wife, Victoria W. Rawls; his mother, Dorothy Carmichael; his daughters, Jessica Rawls, Stacy Gill, and Grace Rawls; his sons, Robert Shane Gill, and Bernard Rawls; his grandchildren, David Gill, Ty'Quincy Rawls, Te'Andre Rawls, Ta'Michael Rawls; Moses Ware III, Ke'Vonte Rawls, Landin Rawls, Asia Rawls, Logan Rawls; and his brother, Paul Rawls.

He is preceded in death by his father, William Rawls.

Visitation will take place on Monday, June 13, 2016 at Resthaven Gardens of Memory and Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy. at 10:00AM followed by service at 12:30 PM. Burial will take place at Louisiana National Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Bernard Rawls, Robert Shane Gill, Ty'Quincy Rawls, Moses Ware II, Ke'Vonte Rawls, and Te'Andre Rawls. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ta'Michael Rawls and David Gill.
