David Porter

June 7, 1934 — December 15, 2020

David Alonzo Porter Jr. 86 of Denham Springs, peacefully joined our Lord and Savior on December 15, 2020. He was in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his family. He was a devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather and friend. David married the love of his life, Evelyn Reid Porter May 23,1956. He worked for 30 years as the Maintenance Supervisor at Schuylkill Metals in efforts of fulfilling their dream of raising a family. They celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary this past spring, and when asked how they did it, his answer was simple, "We talked everything out, no matter how big or small it might have seemed. And we prayed." David was known for being able to fix things, he never gave up, he would work until he figured it out. In his younger years he served in the US Marines. He loved buying new "toys", a few of his favorites being his golf cart, his Bad Boy lawn mower and his John Deere tractor. He could often be found sitting on the porch drinking coffee and watching the trains! David is survived by his wife Evelyn Reid Porter of Denham Springs, their 3 children, 2 sons Randy Porter (Carolyn Sue) of Denham Springs, Timothy Porter (Debbie) of Central and 1 Daughter Lisa Geibel (Marcus) of New Jersey, A brother Clifford Porter of Little Rock AR, 3 Granddaughters, Bridgette Barton of Denham Springs, Shawntelle Porter of Snyder OK, Keri Porter of Jayess Mississippi; Two Grandsons, Earl Lucas Porter of Denham Springs, and Chad Porter of Denham Springs. and 17 Great Grand Children.
