David Leslie Herring, a proud veteran of USMC and resident of BR, LA peacefully passed away in his sleep during the weekend of 08-15-2021 at age 50 surrendering to fatigue and heart conditions.
Son of Les and Janice Herring, David was born on Feb 14, 1971 in Chattanooga, TN, later relocated to Birmingham, AL, graduating from John Carroll High School and attended Auburn University of Birmingham. At age 21, David enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, proudly serving his country as Rifleman, Recon Division, earning a National Defense Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and Rifleman Marksman Badge before receiving an Honorable Discharge in 1994.
Since age 23, David acquired and maintained Personal Training Certifications from NASM and completed his Commercial Divers Licensure at age 24 from Divers Institute of Technology, Seattle, WA before transfer to Baton Rouge, LA in 1996 with CAL Dive International.
Most commonly recognized for his energy, resilience and relentless endurance, David Herring captured the attention and hearts of many with his compassion and concern for others.
David is survived by his Wife; Elizabeth Daughn Herring of Baton Rouge, LA and Children, Jacob David Herring, Hillary Elizabeth Herring, and Alexandra Elisabeth Herring, Parents; Les and Janice Herring, Siblings; Rick Herring, Will Herring, and Leslie Noles of Birmingham, AL.
His Spiritual Blessing of Ashes & Celebration of LIFE service will be held at St. Jude Catholic Church, 9150 Highland Rd, Baton Rouge, LA 70810, on Friday, August 20 th 2021 , at 10:00 am followed by a Military Honors’ Salute .
The family will be there to welcome friends and relatives.
