David Sandy Hendry, a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge, died Sunday, August 18, 2013. He was born on May 12, 1959. David is survived by his stepfather who he affectionately called Dad, Lamar Little, of Baton Rouge, and stepsisters Elizabeth Byrne of Boise, Idaho and Lacie Maynard of Gulf Shores, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his father, Deb Hendry, and his mother, Floma Little and his grandparents. He attended St. George Elementary School and graduated from Catholic High School in 1977. He attended Southeast Louisiana University and the University of Louisiana Lafayette and graduated with a degree in computer science. David was active in the Herb Society of America, Baton Rouge Chapter, and was recognized by his peers for his exemplarily knowledge of gardening, and recently presented a seminar on growing citrus fruits. David was a patron of local musicians, and particularly loved Smithfield Fair of the Baton Rouge Buskers. He enjoyed singalongs at local music events and jam sessions in the homes of musicians. David was a devoted Catholic, a member of the Department 56 Collectors Club, Baton Rouge, and an avid bridge player. Visitation will be from 9 am until 10 am on Tuesday, August 20, at Resthaven, 11817 Jefferson Highway, Baton Rouge, with services following. Interment will follow at St. George Catholic Church Cemetery, 7880 St. George Drive, Baton Rouge. The family has requested memorials to Catholic High School of Baton Rouge, and the American Kidney Foundation.
