In loving memory of Capt. David Wayne Henderson, also known as “Poppie” and “Poppa Dave”. He sparked into this life on January 11, 1955, and burned out on January 25, 2024, at the age of 69. He loved the years he spent as a tugboat captain pushing barges down the Mississippi River. His days never got started without a cup of black coffee. Poppie enjoyed umpiring games, eating oysters, riding Harleys and most importantly painting all the tap shoes at the dance studio!
He is preceded in death by his dancing queen of 37 years, Judith Beatrice Henderson and his loving parents, Betty and William Roy Henderson. Poppie is survived by his brothers, William “Denny” Henderson, Jr and Donald Henderson; niece and nephews, Ashley, Adam, Alec, and Steven Henderson; his stepchildren Denise Brown and Scott Wallace. He is also survived by his grandchildren Breck, Cody, and Christian Brown and Heidi, Shelby and Sydney Wallace; great-grandchildren Ella, Caroline, Evelyn, Colton and Thomas Brown, and Amelia Dolan; his cousin Rene Bosworth; and many more.
Dave was a very one-of-a-kind person, who will be dearly missed.
