A loving husband and father, David Ross Carley of Baton Rouge, born June 26th, 1930, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at the age of 86.
David was a graduate of Northwestern University and a long-time research chemist with Ethyl Corporation where he developed and held several patents. An active member of Parkview Baptist Church for many years, serving on the deacon board and several committees.
He is survived by his three sons, David Carley, Jr. and wife Cheri, Michael Carley and wife Patricia, and Nathan Carley. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Virginia Carley, Amanda Bourgeois and husband John, John Michael Carley and wife Melissa, Matthew Carley, Joshua Carley and wife Jamie, and Jesse Carley; and one great-grandchild, Riley Taylor.
David is proceeded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Geraldine Zabasky Carley. He is also preceded in death by his parents, Richard Lee and Ruby Dell Carley; and siblings, Harold Carley, Ella Lee Pierce, Richard Lewis Carley, Edith Vinson, and Jerry Carley.
Visitation will be at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Thursday, May 25, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Visitation will resume at Parkview Baptist Church on Friday, May 26, from 9 a.m. until services at 11 a.m., conducted by Rev. Merlin Liverman and Brother Michael
Hardaway, Senior Pastor. Interment will follow in Resthaven Garden of Memory.
