David L. Cambre, a resident of Prairieville, Louisiana, passed away on Monday, April 29, 2024, at the age of 80. He was born on August 29, 1943, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to Blanche “Kitty” Elvira Carlos Cambre and Joseph Dubuys Cambre, Jr.
David proudly served his country in the United States Navy before starting his career in Law Enforcement. He retired after 40 plus years of service from the Baton Rouge City Police and the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Department. David loved fishing, golfing, watching football and boxing and loved spending time at the beach.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Kim Francis Cargile; his son, David Christopher Cambre, Jr. and his brother, Lynn Cambre.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Susan D. Cambre; his daughters, Kelle Cambre Payne (Michael), and Laura Cambre Guy (Brandon); his son, Joseph Ross Cambre (Kristen); his sister, Jacinta Pearce; his brothers, Glynn Cambre (Patsy) and Gary Cambre (Mollie); 10 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; and his faithful four-legged companion, Owen.
The family would like to give special thanks to Galvez-Lake Fire Department, Acadian Ambulance, and all the medical professionals at Ochsner and Baton Rouge General Medical Centers.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy. in Baton Rouge on Saturday, May 4, 2024, beginning at 1pm until the Funeral Service begins at 3 pm.
