David "Dave" Allen Amos passed on to his eternal life at the age of 67 on January 13, 2018. He peacefully took his last breath at home surrounded by his family.
Dave was born on September 29, 1950 in Fayetteville, North Carolina and was a long time resident of Baton Rouge, La. He spent several years in California after marrying his high school sweetheart, Cynthia Layne Amos. Dave spent his younger years truly enjoying all things life had to offer. He loved riding dirt bikes and soon moved on to his beloved Harley Davidson motorcycles. He loved going to music concerts, car shows, LSU football games, going on motorcycle rides, cooking, Mardi Gras parades and most of all, loved to be with his children and grandchildren. Family meant everything to him and was nicknamed Pawpaw Rock, he was truly the rock that his family rested upon. He was a very fun, lively man who never met a stranger and would go out of his way to help the people he loved. Dave was known to be a human encyclopedia and knew a little bit about everything.
He leaves behind his wife of 49 years, Cynthia Layne Amos; his daughters, Dana Adams and Danielle Story; son in laws, Thomas Adams and Terry Story; his 8 grandchildren, Morgan Story, Alexis Adams Lord, Tyler Adams, Dylan Adams, Madison Story, Collin Story, Logan Adams; and his little caboose, Maycee Story. He also leaves behind Russell Kreko whom he thought of as the son he never had; three brothers, Joseph, Pat, and Timothy Amos; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. His beloved dogs Baby and Tiny Dancer stayed by his side until the end.
Dave is preceded in death by his father, Robert Amos; mother, Mae Amos; sister, Toni Amos; and father-in-law, Garland Landry.
Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA on Thursday, January 18, 2018 from 9:00am until funeral service at 11:00am.
