Darrel L. Baker, a resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at the age of 72. He was born in Lancaster, Ohio, on July 24, 1952, to Vera Fuller Baker and William Norman Baker.
Darrel is a proud veteran of the United States Air Force serving for over 20 years before his retirement. He then enjoyed a career as an electrician for 22 years working at various plants in Louisiana. Darrel was a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Jean Vianney Catholic Church. He loved fishing, working on his model trains and working with the Special People Bowling League Capital City High Rollers
He is preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother; his daughter, Terri Lynn Baker, two brothers Jay and Mark and a sister Marjorie.
Darrel is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Vickie Marie Baker; his daughter, Cheryl Whitesell and son-in-law, Walter Whitesell; his grandchildren, Timothy Whitesell, Lance Whitesell, and Sydney Whitesell, and his great-grandchild, Marsial Whitesell. Also, brothers and sisters, Pete (Vicki) Baker, Billy Baker, Greg Baker, Mary Baker, Alice Mitchell, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at St. Jean Vianney Catholic Church, 16166 S. Harrells Ferry Road in Baton Rouge on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at 12:00 p.m., with visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m. A Visitation will also be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway in Baton Rouge, on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a Rosary taking place at 7 p.m. Interment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
