Danny Major, Sr.

March 4, 1958 — October 15, 2017

Danny went to join his Lord and Savior on Sunday evening, October 15, 2017. Danny Rollan Major was born on March 4, 1958 in El Dorado, Arkansas to Ann Lee Springfield and Harold Rollan Major. He graduated from Istrouma High School in 1976 where he was a member of the Nawagantia Indian Dancers. Danny then began his career in the service industry which included working for Baton Rouge Coca-Cola Bottling Company for 6 years, Pepsi Americas, Inc. for 6 years, Baton Rouge Beverage Company for 18 years and the last 15 years for Community Coffee Company, where he recently received recognition for his 15 year commitment. Danny was heavily involved with the Men's Club of Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Baton Rouge. He was also an active member of Istrouma Baptist Church as well as the Kiwanis Christmas Festivities. Danny was very outgoing and never met a stranger. No matter what the circumstances, you always knew when Danny entered the room, from his bright smile or a hug to his ability to crack the sometimes inappropriate joke just when you needed to hear it. Danny was an avid hunter and outdoorsman and loved being in the woods. Anyone that had the opportunity to hunt with Danny has many treasured stories that always bring tears of laughter. He was the first to arrive and the last to leave and would keep you laughing the whole time. Anytime you called for help he was always there, no matter what you needed day or night. Danny took pride in all of his charitable work, but one of his most treasured activities was playing the role of Santa for kids through the Kiwanis Club. Additionally Danny loved committing to the MBS co-ed softball team each summer for the past 22 years where he was considered highly competitive among his team mates and had been given the name "Pops". Danny is survived by his wife of 30 years, Suzi Case Major; three children, Danny R. Major, Jr. (Shanna), Bradley Joseph Major, and Heather Noel Major; Siblings, Faye Morris, Gary Major (Kim), Gene Springfield (Renee), Kim Nichols (Karl), Jim Major (Connie); Mother: Ann Lee Springfield; Grandchildren, Jeremy McKnight and Drew Zachary along with many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
