Daisy Smith Guercio, age 89 died on April 9, 2025. She passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Daisy was born on October 30,1935 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She was a devoted wife and a cherished mother. Maw-Maw Daisy was loved by her many grandchildren, greats, and great-greats. Her nurturing spirit and kind heart made everyone feel welcome and she was truly loved by everyone who knew her. She had a deep love for music as she loved playing her piano and organ. She was an active member of Serendipity, and an avid LSU fan. Daisy dedicated her life to her husband, children, and grandchildren, always putting family first and finding joy in the simplest moments spent together. Her legacy is one of deep faith, family, love and a life beautifully lived. She leaves behind treasured memories and a family forever grateful for her example, her strength, and her sweet, gentle spirit. She was a devout Christian, a true Proverbs 31 woman, and a life-long member of Jefferson Baptist Church.
Daisy is survived by her five children, Darlene and Rusty Brown, JoLynn and Jimmy Saizan, Jan and Mike Rousseau, Gina and Dan McCaughey, and Jody and Stephanie Guercio; sister, Dot Jordan; brother, Charles Brou; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Burton; and numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Joseph S. Guercio, Jr.; parents; sister, Faye Smith; infant son, Craig Joseph; granddaughter, Ashli; and great-grandson, Michael.
Visitation at Jefferson Baptist Church Friday, April 11, 2025, at 9:00 AM until service at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
Pallbearers will be grandsons: Russ Brown, Jimmy Saizan, Laiton McCaughey, Logan McCaughey, Lane McCaughey, Ladd McCaughey, and Joseph Guercio.
