Curtis Joseph Auzenne, 85, departed this life on Thursday, October 08, 2015. He was a native of Evangeline Parish and resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Curtis was a devoted father, husband, brother, educator and friend. He was an Army veteran, retired teacher, counselor, and I Care supervisor for the East Baton Rouge School System for over 40 years. Curtis attended Southern University and received his Masters and Plus 30 from Louisiana State University. For a time, he also enjoyed demonstrating the art of blacksmithing to visitors at the Rural Life Museum in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus and was an usher at St. Aloysius Catholic Church.
Survived by a daughter, Cynthia Auzenne Richard and husband Sherman; sons, Curt D. Auzenne and wife Kerri, and Chris D. Auzenne and wife Rosalind; brother- in-law, Cyrus Auzenne and wife Delores; and sister-in-law, Wilda Boutte. Survived by grandchildren, Corey Richard, Kyle Richard, Paige Richard, Heath Auzenne, Grant Auzenne, Marissa Auzenne, and Sydney Auzenne; four great grandchildren, Darren Auzenne, Caitlyn Richard, Karma Richard, and Mayson Dicharry; numerous nieces and nephews. Also survived by "special buddy" Alvin Decuir, along with his devoted caregivers, Peter Verret, and Jeanette Robins.
Preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Dorothy Celeste Auzenne; parents, Clay and Philomena Auzenne; sisters, Grace DuRousseau and Eleanora Dise; and special caregiver, Brenda Darensbourg Roché.
Pallbearers will be Corey Richard, Kyle Richard, Heath Auzenne, Grant Auzenne, Peter Verret, and Scott Darensbourg. Honorary pallbearers will be Sherman Richard, Cyrus Auzenne, Brian Boutte, and Alvin Decuir.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his name to Alzheimer Services of the Capital Area, St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Baton Rouge, or the American Heart Association.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Monday, October 12, 2015, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 2025 Stuart Avenue, Baton Rouge, LA 70808, from 9:00 AM until Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 AM.
Interment will take place at Resthaven Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
