Corinne Ann Byrne (Connie), formerly of Milford CT and most recently a resident of Baton Rouge LA, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on the morning of Sunday November 13, 2022 due to complications from a stroke. She was 86 years old.
Corinne was born in Milford CT on June 12, 1936 to Frank and Gertrude Plumb. She had 2 brothers and 5 sisters. At age 18 she met the love of her life, Arthur Byrne and they married in 1954. She worked as a bookkeeper until they retired to live the good life in Cape Coral FL. She was very creative and enjoyed doing needlework and various crafts – her clorox bottle Santa and Mrs Claus heads were highly prized by family and friends. She was also very patriotic and served for many years as president of the ladies auxiliary of the American Legiion in Cape Coral. Due to her leadership and financial acumen the chapter went from fiscally shaky to strong and it was able to donate tens of thousands of dollars to childrens hospitals and various veterans charities.
After her husband passed away in 2012 she moved to Baton Rouge to be closer to her sister Dawn and brother-in-law Dick. Being surrounded by her nieces, nephews and their spouses and children was a source of great joy to her. She loved celebrating the holidays and all the decorating, shopping, gift giving and get-togethers that they entailed.
In her later years she also enjoyed her nightly scotch and water, trips to the casino with her sister and brother-in-law and the friendships with the ladies in her monthly Pokeno group.
Corinne is survived by her daughter Roni Marie Byrne (Sullivan) and her husband Richard Sullivan of Brattleboro, VT, her sister Dawn Marie Jackson and her husband Richard Jackson of Baton Rouge, LA, her sister Mary Ann Dezenzo of Stratford, CT, her grandson Bryan Byrne of St. Petersburg, FL and her granddaughter Bianca Byrne of Pensacola, FL. Corinne also had 3 great-grandchildren as well as countless loving nieces, nephews and extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years Arthur F. Byrne Jr. who passed away in 2012 and her son Arthur F. Byrne III who passed away in 2019 at age 62 as well as her parents, Frank and Gertrude Plumb, her brothers Frank and Robert Plumb and her sisters Noreen, Barbara (Cantor), and Marilyn (Mack).
Visitation followed by a short service will take place at 12:00 PM on Sunday, November 20, 2022 at Resthaven Funeral Home in Baton Rouge, LA.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to Saint Judes Hosplital in Corinne's memory.
The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the staff of the Carpenter House Hospice who treated Corinne with compassion and dignity in her final days.
